About Me
My name is Katelin and I am going into my fourth year at Eastern Michigan University. I am currently a Music BA major with a minor in history. My plan is to graduate from grad school one day with a PhD in music theory so I can teach it at the college level. I really do love analyzing music. Accomplishments I have made in music theory include four honors projects in Music Theory III through VI, the Bruce Benward Honorarium from the MACRO Foundation, an Honors Fellowship to work on a senior thesis, the Melvin and Hazel Cant Scholarship and the Francis R. Warren Scholarship through the College of Arts and Sciences Dean's Office at Eastern Michigan University, and the Leadership Scholarship from Eastern Michigan University.
I've had an extensive past with tutoring. In high school, I tutored failing ninth graders through the National Honor's Society. Also in high school, I tutored students in my A.P. Music Theory class. As for my years in college, I have been tutoring music theory for two years. My past students include failing freshman, freshman who just wanted someone to double check their work, students retaking the class after failing it previously, and a student returning after taking a break from school. I really enjoy tutoring music theory because I get to share my nerdiness for the subject and to make topics that seem complex, crystal clear.
